Pedodontide Tele-Diş Hekimliği Uygulamaları

Tele-diş hekimliği, uzak mesafelerde diş hekimliği konsültasyonuna ve tedavi planlamasına olanak veren; bilgi, görüntü alışverişini içeren telekomünikasyon ve diş hekimliği kombinasyonudur. Günümüzde devam etmekte olan Covid-19 pandemisi sürecinde sağlık hizmetlerine erişimdeki aksamalar çocuk hastaları da etkilemiştir. Tele-diş hekimliği uygulamalarının sağlık hizmetlerine erişimi kolaylaştırma, tedavi ve ulaşım maliyetlerini azaltma, kırsal ve kentsel toplulukların sağlık hizmetine erişimindeki adaletsizlikleri giderme gibi pek çok faydası bulunmaktadır. Tele-diş hekimliği; hızlı ve kayıt altına alınabilen verilerin uzaktan kontrol edilebilmesi, birçok kişiyle eş zamanlı iletişime geçilebilmesi, hastane maliyetlerinin ve hasta bekleme sürelerinin azaltılmasını sağlayarak uzun vadede tedavi maliyetlerininin düşürülmesinde fayda sağlamaktadır. Tele-diş hekimliği, endodonti, ortodonti, ağız cerrahisi ve pedodonti dahil olmak üzere çeşitli diş hekimliği disiplinleri için umut verici yeni bir araç olarak ortaya konmuştur. Tele-diş hekimliği uygulamaları pedodontide; ağız hijyeni eğitimi verilmesi, teşhis ve tedavi planlaması ve davranış yönlendirmesi gibi farklı alanlarda kullanılmaktadır. Bu derlemede, tele-diş hekimliği uygulamalarının pedodontideki kullanım alanları, avantajları ve uygulama zorlukları gibi konularda mevcut güncel bilgiler sunulmaktadır.

Teledentistry Applications in Pediatric Dentistry

Teledentistry is a combination of telecommunications and dentistry, which includes the exchange of information and images, enabling dental consultation and treatment planning over long distances. In the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic process, disruptions in access to health services affect pediatric patients. Teledentistry applications have many benefits such as facilitating access to health services, reducing treatment and transportation costs, and eliminating injustices in rural and urban communities access to health services. Tele-dentistry; remote control of fast and recordable data, simultaneous communication with many people, reducing hospital costs and patient waiting times, thereby reducing treatment costs in the long run. With the help of developments in the age of technology, access to dental services can be facilitated by reducing the risk of infection spread during the Covid-19 pandemic with teledentistry. It has emerged as a promising new tool for various dental disciplines, including teledentistry, endodontics, orthodontics, oral surgery, and pedodontics. Teledentistry applications in pediatric dentistry can be used in areas such as giving oral hygiene education, diagnosis and treatment planning of the patient, and behavior management. The present review aims to present the current information about the field of application, and difficulties in the application of teledentistry in pediatric dentistry.
